publive-imageWho doesn't know Mithun Chakraborty's Disco Dancer (1982)? The film gave him recognition as a superstar and as a dancer as well. Now, after 41 years, the musical hit is set for a sequel, and what's more exciting is that the superstar reprises his role again.

A source confirmed the update to Mid-Day that the Disco Dancer sequel has got the greenlight from the makers. Babbar Subhash, who directed and produced the 1982 musical, will invest cash in the sequel, while Nitin Kumar Gupta will sit in the director's chair.publive-imageDisco Dancer was the story of a young street performer, Jimmy, played by Mithun Chakraborty, who rose to stardom as a dancer from the slums of Bombay. Also starring Kim and Rajesh Khanna, Disco Dancer was a box office hit in India and a record-breaking blockbuster in the Soviet Union. It was the first Bollywood film to hit 100 crores in gross at the worldwide box office, with 94 crores in gross coming from the Russian box office.
