'The Lone Ranger' production starring Johnny Depp canned

Fans of the Pirates of the Carribean star Johnny Depp are in for a big disappointment for sure. Buzz is that Disney has drawn the curtains on their ambitious project The Lone Ranger which was to star Depp. Sources claim that the canning of the project was the result of fallout between Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer over budgeting issues.

Disney had planned the Western as a potential franchise series with Armie Hammer (the Social Network fame) playing the cult classic cowboy figure Lone Ranger and Depp playing the role of his sidekick Tonto.
