publive-imageDisaster films have time and again ruled the roost at the box office. Whether it be the sea struggles of The Poseidon Adventure and Titanic or the flaming fury of Towering Inferno, the audience has always showed their affinity for these disaster dramas.

The latest in the genre is San Andreas. The film tells the tale of a rescue-chopper pilot who makes a dangerous journey across the state in order to rescue his estranged daughter in the aftermath of a massive earthquake in California. Starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, Carla Gugino among others. It is directed by Brad Peyton. The film is slated for a 29th May, 2015 release.

Dwayne Johnson aka 'The Rock' who is pretty active on Instagram shared a picture of himself along with director Brad Peyton and expressed that their goal for San Andreas was to raise the bar in the genre of disaster drama films. The Rock said that movies like The Towering Inferno, The Poseidon Adventure and Titanic were their benchmarks and for San Andreas to rise up to that level, a director of the caliber of Brad was required who was not only extremely talented, hungry and bad ass to achieve that greatness but one who would relentlessly push to ensure that the audience left the theaters caring about the characters. Johnson expressed that it is only when we truly care about the characters that films such as these become cool and special. The Rock felt that the director had managed to achieve just that with the film and shared his excitement at the release of the film on the 29th of May.

Dwayne shared the picture of himself with the San Andreas director along with the following copy:

"Me and director @peytonology aka Grizzly Adams' goal for #SANANDREAS was to hopefully raise the bar in the genre. With iconic movies like "Towering Inferno", "The Poseidon Adventure" and "Titanic" as our benchmarks - we needed a director who was not only extremely talented, hungry and bad ass to achieve greatness but one who would relentlessly push to make sure the audience left the theater caring about our characters. 'Cause when we truly care about the characters you got a shot at making somethin' cool and special. I think our director Brad Peyton achieved just that in our movie.. somethin' cool and special. Can't wait for y'all to see #SANANDREAS Worldwide MAY 29th. (still pissed he shaved his beard;)." (sic)

San Andreas promises to be another thrilling movie going experience for the lovers of this genre. We just can't wait to catch it, what about you?
