Tiger 3 Box Office: Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi's Tiger 3 released in cinemas today. The film has an odd release date of Laxmi Pooja + Sunday, which is very rare for Bollywood. Mostly, the makers avoid Laxmi Pooja Day and prefer the New Year Holiday for better box office numbers, but YRF took that risk here.

Shockingly, no movie has even crossed the 20 crore nett mark on Laxmi Pooja Day. It's also because we haven't had such a big event movie on this day in recent times. Tiger 3 was too big to opt for this day for its grand release, but it has made sure that all records of this day are broken by a huge margin.The highest collection on Laxmi Pooja Day came in 2013 with the Hrithik Roshan starrer Krrish 3. The film collected 18 crore on Laxmi Pooja Day (Sunday) and surpassed the record of Shah Rukh Khan's Ra. One (2011), which did a business of 14 crore nett on Laxmi Pooja Day (Wednesday).

In 2012, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardaar's combined total crossed the 20 crore mark on the said day. Now, Tiger 3 has broken that record within 6 hours of its release.

The shows for Tiger 3 started around 6:00 a.m. in the morning, and the film had crossed the 20 crore nett mark by noon. The film surpassed the previous record by a huge margin and will also cross the 30 crore nett opening.The film has taken a bumper opening in the morning show, and noon shows are also running with solid occupancy, but it will lose momentum owing to India's World Cup match and Laxmi Pooja Festivities in the evening. Nevertheless, the record for this much-avoided day is finally broken after 10 years.
