This is the first film of Tom Cruise's career to reach the landmark and also the first Hollywood film of 2022 to do so.
Top Gun: Maverick has surpassed Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness to grab the first spot in the yearly grossers of 2022. The film collected $521.7 million at the domestic box office and became the first film of 2022 to cross $500 million in North America.
Top Gun: Maverick is close to the half-billion mark in international markets, with a foreign total of $484.7 million. The cumulative gross currently stands at $1.006 billion, which makes it the only second film, after Spider-Man: No Way Home, to gross over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office in the post-pandemic era.
