Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor's rom-com family drama, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, has taken a decent start at the box office. The film was weak in Maharashtra and Central India, but the Holi festival has boosted the numbers in north India.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar collected approx. 14 crore nett on opening day, which is a fairly decent total since the last two big Bollywood releases, Selfiee and Shehzada, couldn't cross double digit figure on the opening day. TJMM's collections are almost half those of Brahmastra, which was a big-budget film with Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. The Luv Ranjan rom-com is made on a moderate budget, far lower than Brahmastra. For Ranbir Kapoor, it's another good opening after Brahmastra, though. Shamshera missed a double-digit opening by a few lacs, while Brahmastra hit 30 crores in Hindi and 5 crore+ in dubbed version. TJMM is looking for a steady run at the box office with double digit totals every day until Sunday.
