Will Smith Not Starring In 'Independence Day' Sequel

Hollywood superstar Will Smith, who played the role of Marine Corps pilot Captain Steven Hiller in the sci-fi flick Independence Day, will not be reprising his role in the sequel of the movie, director Roland Emmerich said.

Roland informed that Smith is too expensive nowadays and hence, he would not be a part of the movie. The director further added that half of the people in the sequel are from the original film and the other half are new.

Independence Day 2 is set for a July 3, 2015 release.
