publive-imageIn India, we have quite a few OTT brands making noise, and ZEE5 is one of them. We have international OTT brands like Prime Video and Hotstar getting bigger with a strong PR team and marketing, while Netflix is up abroad and down in India. ZEE5, earlier managed by Spice Media PR (one of the biggest PR houses in the industry), started off on a promising note in 2018, but the recent management (Avian We PR) doesn't seem to be caring much about the standard.

From my personal experience as a journalist, it is disheartening to see ZEE5's media management and PR teams' irresponsible behaviour. After so many requests, all they have to offer is, "We'll take care of it the next time". Sadly, the next time never gets better, and the story continues. Whose loss is it? Obviously, the brand suffers the coverage, and we media channels suffer due to wrong management.

It isn't really about being selective and ignorant about the media industry, as we are all aware that nothing can really be done without the help of PR and their supportive executives. However, the other side of the business runs on the shoulders of the media, which can't always be silent. I hope this brief write-up reaches the right people and helps them do better in the future.
