Almost every Indian must have heard about some rich scammer who robbed our banks and economy and then flew away to a foreign country. You hate them; you call them names. But did you ever think that the man might have been very poor once? Lucky Bhaskar is a tale of a middle-class man, actually lower-class since his pocket is always empty and he has a dozen debts, who rises from the struggle to become a rich man filled with arrogance and pride.

"I am not arrogant; I am just rich," he tells his wife, who is gradually becoming accustomed to his arrogance and finds him despicable after he has crores in his bank account. Now it’s a big joke that the same wife has no issues running away with him to a foreign country and using a no-limit credit card. Lucky Bhaskar is not hesitant about such logic that doesn’t align well with the typical principles and honesty of the common man.

You earn Rs. 100 through fraud, then donate Rs. 50 and try to be a hero. But the other Rs. 50 makes you a villain as well. This is a film about a man who is a half hero and half villain. Now it’s up to you to decide which part you like. This also means that you like half the film and dislike the other half. Not that Bhaskar's character deserves any sympathy; he was right in his place, but it was his wife and father who went wrong. They pretend to be so genuine yet accompany Bhaskar in the biggest escape of his life. He played well against the big rats, however. They couldn’t beat him, which makes him a victorious hero. The screenplay is tight except for those comedic songs that don’t suit the con theme.

Dulquer Salmaan carries the entire film on his shoulders while the rest of the cast provides decent support. Venky Atluri brings some Hollywood-style frames here, only to find that they have become outdated for savvy movie buffs. However, they are fresh for regular audiences, especially in the local market. Overall, it’s a good attempt at an interesting genre.
